Where it turns up

Friday, June 4, 2021 First weekend of June 2021
On the chart A Quiet Place Part II (wk 2): $19.3M, -59%
Expected Loses the holiday Sunday: 'it will probably drop in the mid/high 50's for a weekend gross of about $20 million' Actual: $19.3M, -59%
In the note And that figure about how many unique sign ups came from the most dependable source on the planet, the internet and a Facebook post from a guy named Yuri. A Quiet Place II - Looks pretty normal for a 2nd weekend on a film that opened as big as this did last week.
Friday, June 11, 2021 Second weekend of June 2021
On the chart A Quiet Place Part II (wk 3): $12.0M, -38%
Expected 'A normal 3rd weekend... probably down about 45%' Actual: $12.0M, -38%
In the note But this should make tomorrow really interesting. A Quiet Place Part II - Looking like a normal 3rd weekend for a film of this size, probably down about 45% for the weekend.
Friday, June 18, 2021 Father's Day weekend 2021
On the chart A Quiet Place Part II (wk 4): $9.1M, -24%
Expected 'With a Father's Day lift this could end up with a drop in the 25% range and a weekend around 9 mil' Actual: $9.1M, -24%
In the note If F9 is what everyone thinks it’s going to be, this is all fine; but if it’s only 65% or so of that, maybe this could have been better. A Quiet Place Part II - Another strong holdover weekend, with a Father’s Day lift this could end up with a drop in the 25% range and a weekend around 9 mil. Peter Rabbit 2 - Looking decent, or maybe a little bit better than that today.
Friday, June 25, 2021 Fourth weekend of June 2021
On the chart A Quiet Place Part II (wk 5): $6.2M, -32%
Expected 'Looks down about 45% for a weekend of about $5 million' Actual: $6.2M, -32%
In the note Over the last couple of months, films like Godzilla v Kong, Mortal Kombat, Conjuring, A Quiet Place II, etc started the day with massive numbers and then were pretty flat the rest of the day. Talking to some people who went during those opening weekends (or tried to go), the capacity caps and social distancing policies seemed to make it difficult to get a ticket later in the evening; so the robust presales might mean that moviegoers are guarding against either being frozen out of a showing, or (since most of these major market theaters are reserved seats now) when they went to go buy a ticket in online they didn’t want to sit in the front couple of rows.
Friday, July 9, 2021 Black Widow weekend 2021
Expected 'Down only about 30% on a theater to theater basis' Actual: -23% raw
In the note Figure that 90ish you’ve been reading in the trades is as good as anything right now, but figure it's probably +/- $5 milliion from that. The Universal Trio (Boss Baby 2, F9, Purge Forever) - They’re all taking a pretty good hit today, all look down >50% right now. A Quiet Place Part II - Still rock solid and down only about 30% on a theater to theater basis, but with Black Widow coming into the marketplace they lost a decent amount of runs, so it will be down a little more than that.
