Fourth weekend of July 2019

Looks like it’s going to be another up from last year weekend, and once again this weekend looks like the Summer sweet spot for big ticket adult skewing movies. So, with the accuracy normally associated the jet bridge drivers at LAX, here’s my best take on the weekend box-office.

#1 The Lion King - Looks okay today, but just okay. They were so white hot last weekend it kind of makes sense that what goes up must come down, and they had that massive (12% of the weekend) Thursday night. At this point it looks like a drop close to 60% for the weekend for a gross in the mid high 70’s.

#2* Once upon a time…in Hollywood* - Had a great night last night and looks great today too, it should fly by QT’s best weekend ($39 million on Inglorious Basterds). Figure this ends up somewhere in the mid 40’s with a shot a better if it’s not front loaded.
