However, this is the type of film that does very well today, so more than likely this will be the best day of this films run. # 5 Knives Out - Because of the slightly lower number of wide releases this year, there was room for a couple of the strong holdovers to thrive here.

We should be a decent amount ahead of 2022 (Strange World and Devotion, but also had Black Panther 2 still doing $50 million in 3), but we’ll be behind 2019 (Knives Out and Queen & Slim, but also Frozen 2 in it’s 2nd weekend doing $86 million in 3). However, we have an unusual amount of wide movies next weekend (it’s usually a weekend that no one releases anything of note), so December should start a lot higher than it traditionally goes. Just like everything else this weekend, the ‘money day’ is Black Friday, and in this sector that’s usually when the playability of each title kicks in.

We’ll be way ahead of last year, possibly almost doubling last year’s similar weekend (Violent Night was the only new opening), but we’ll still be a little behind 2019 (only one expansion, Dark Waters, but Frozen 2 and Knives Out were both really good and drove the overall number).
