In the note However, it doesn't seem like we've got a BarbenHeimer weekend coming up this year, unless Disney goes all Kayser Soze and puts the two biggest films of the year, Inside Out 2 and Deadpool/Wolverine on the same date. One of the positive stories this week is A24 continuing their journey from plucky indie to a force to be reckoned with.

In the note Things finally turn around next weekend with Inside Out 2 over Father’s Day, but even some old school Disney Magic should only get us even (or maybe just close) for the same weekend last year when we had The Flash, Elemental and The Blackening bringing in $91 million.

In the note Back before reserved seating we would see a 2x or 3x growth from the matinee to the total for the day, now a really good walk up film is up 50%. So why is all the very dull ’inside baseball’ stuff important? Because last weekend we saw walk up growth like we haven't seen in a long time, and it wasn’t all Inside Out 2.

In the note A couple of weeks ago Inside Out 2 opened to 70% more than Inside Out did back in 2015, and there was a lot of speculation why that happened, because for quite a while we’ve been seeing sequels go the other way.

In the note Right now it’s looking like a 3 day in the low/mid 70’s, which would put the 5 day somewhere in the vicinity of 120. Inside Out 2 - Looking shockingly resilient today, it’s not down that much from last week (considering that DM4 crashed the box-office party), and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s only down 40% or so this weekend, which would put the weekend in the mid 30’s. MaXXXine - A24 keeps growing as a studio and they keep doing things that show the work.

In the note It’s a Cat 5 hit. Despicable Me 4 - Still really good, down a standard 50% for a weekend in the low 20’s Inside Out 2 - Down another 40% for a weekend in the low teens. Longlegs - The exits were so iffy last week, I expected this to be down more today.
