Right now, this looks like a weekend of $15 or $16 million, just behind Old; but if playability is an issue that might show up in the numbers tomorrow and Sunday. 80 for Brady - For some reason they’re not reporting numbers today. Since this film did just fine with the critics, the exits have been pretty good, the number they reported in the trades from last night was good and we all know that comedy is welcome at the box office, I can’t imagine what would prevent them from reporting today.

Paramount got the exhibitors to do some dynamic pricing on 80 for Brady, and although it may or may not have had an effect on last weekend’s box office, something really interesting happened this week. As you know, Knock at the Cabin beat 80 for Brady last weekend by 1.4 million, and this week Knock at the Cabin’s weekdays were right in line with the decay you would see from a thriller.

But because this is aimed at older females, and we still haven’t got them back in the habit of moviegoing yet, we should probably take a hard look at the dynamic pricing Paramount used to get 80 for Brady open for future older skewing female films; because the tagalongs seemed just fine there.

Last year we had Knock at the Cabin, 80 for Brady and (similar to this weekend) a Fathom Event showing of The Chosen (more on that below), but the difference in gross between this year's new films and last year’s should be the difference.
