This feels like it has a decent amount of common audience with The Substance, since they're both Females Over going crazy, so both of these films might have been better if the other wasn't there. The Substance - We have a new player in the wide release game, Mubi, who has brought us a couple of limited release films such as the Oscar Nominated Decision to Leave, is taking this film wide.

Looks like a pretty normal Bollywood $4 million for the weekend, but there's a nice consistency to these films. The Substance - This seems to be the ‘water cooler’ movie of September, and it’s taking a path similar to what we saw last year with Saltburn. That buzz is showing up today and it’s down very little.

This time around you have the (unrated) batshit crazy Terrifier 3, plus the box-office energizer bunny of The Substance (also batshit crazy), so anything close to the original gross would be a major accomplishment considering the headwinds of the marketplace now. As we get back to normal, we’ll see more of the clutter, but before the shutdown, clutter was normal.
