Figure it’s off about 50% from last weekend for a weekend in the mid 30’s. Living Doll 2023 M3GAN - This is one of the two films I referenced above, clearly the Talky Tina idea goes way back to The Twilight Zone and this story has been done to death.

And as a key part of the information funnel once a consumer considers a purchase, it’s a go to site for a quick bite of critical opinion and (as you know) can clearly have a big effect on opening box office. Here’s two examples of the mid-level effect that I found interesting; M3gan and Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance With Somebody.
Friday, January 5, 2024 First weekend of January 2024
In the note
Last year was the beginning of the M3GAN phenomenon, plus we still had Avatar The Way Of Water starting it’s long long run and A Man Called Otto was just beginning to remind us that Red State moviegoers want to go to the movies too.
Friday, January 19, 2024 Third weekend of January 2024
In the note
The big difference between this year and last is really two aspects; the holdovers are a little stronger driven by Avatar and M3gan, plus we only have a couple of new films this weekend that will combine to about half of what the new film opened to last year (Missing).

What’s interesting about the grosses today is where it’s doing business, it kinda looks like M3gan lite.
