Where it turns up
Friday, June 18, 2021 Father's Day weekend 2021
On the chart Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard (Wed opening): $11.4M 3-day / $16.7M 5-day
Expected 'The 5 day for this film should end up in the mid teens, maybe higher with a good Father's Day lift' Actual: $16.7M
In the note
Anyway, with the accuracy and dependability of a Pacific Theaters loan payment, here's some thoughts on the weekend box-office. The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard - This film should win the weekend easily and they should get a really nice lift on Sunday because they smartly placed this on Father’s Day (and then got lucky when Luca bounced to Disney Max), so this is a success.
Friday, June 25, 2021 Fourth weekend of June 2021
On the chart Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard (wk 2): $4.9M, -57%
Expected 'Figure it's down 60% for a weekend in the mid 4's' Actual: $4.9M, -57%
In the note
Either way this is terrific, and considering this edition is missing a few elements from the previous more successful films, it’s right where it should be. A Quiet Place Part II - Still chugging along (quietly), looks down about 45% for a weekend of about $5 million. The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard - Looks fairly normal for a 2nd weekend, but they had a massive Father’s Day driven Sunday last week that they’ll have a big drop on Sunday this weekend.
