Maybe, but that weekend #3 of Polar Express over Thanksgiving was against National Treasure and The Incredibles; so if you’ve got the goods, the tide lifts all boats. Remember Theatrical is a social action, and with today’s hyper interactive social platforms, you might not be thinking of a movie but some friends are all about Wicked, Moana or Gladiator.

While both studios were sitting in opposite corners of the day before Thanksgiving room with their arms folded, there was this big shiny beacon of light next door coming from the weekend before Thanksgiving, where little ol’ Gladiator II was sitting there all by it’s lonesome self, and either Wicked or Moana 2 could move there and not really have much of an effect on it, and would have a much better competitive landscape without the other film on the same date.

This looks like it’s headed to a pretty amazing 2nd 3 day of $65 million or so, and a 5 day around $100 million. Gladiator II - It’s just okay today, but I’m not sure any of these other movies are having much of an effect.

Assuming tomorrow doesn’t do anything wacky, Moana should be down 60% for a 3 day in the mid 50’s, and Wicked looks like a spectacular post Thanksgiving hold of only down 45% for a 3 day in the mid 40’s; and both films should pass $300 million the weekend. Gladiator II - Looks pretty solid today, down about 50% for a weekend in the mid teens. Pushpa: The Rule Part 2 - This big budget Bollywood sequel is really generating some impressive numbers, and they went a little wider than they normally do.
