Where it turns up

Friday, September 11, 2020 Second weekend of September 2020
On the chart The Broken Hearts Gallery (opening): $1.1M
Expected 'Should do a little better than some of the similar skewing films we've seen since the theaters reopened': and, as the only comedy, 'it should be around for a while' Actual: $1.1M, top of the indie class, with legs
In the note There was talk of them taking the wraps off the grosses after the first weekend, but since the press is still dying to make this (or anything related to theaters) seem ‘glass half empty’, why is it important? I’m sure they’ll eventually let all the data run free in the world, but as the only studio that took this big a risk on a film this expensive, I’m fine with them doing whatever they want (but only on this film). The Broken Hearts Gallery - A hearty welcome and thank you to Sony for adding another release to the theaters.
Friday, September 18, 2020 Third weekend of September 2020
Expected 'Only down about 35% from last week' Actual: -29%
In the note It doesn’t have any real star power, so it’s not going to be as good as Unhinged was a couple of weeks ago, but it’s certainly way better than any of the independent films we’ve seen so far (and some films released by major studios). The New Mutants - For a film that had pretty low exit scores, the market is still holding this up really nicely, looks like it’s only going to be down another 25%. The Broken Hearts Gallery - Since this is the only comedy in the marketplace, this should hold very well, and the numbers so far look very promising.
Friday, October 16, 2020 Third weekend of October 2020
In the note This looks pretty similar to Broken Hearts Gallery, but they only have about 3/4 of the runs so figure it’s about 3/4 the gross. Love and Monsters - This little horror film from Paramount went about 400 runs and looks very similar to July’s The Rental. Just like The Rental, it should get a good boost from the drive-ins. new PVOD motto, “PVOD, 2 hours of really expensive TV"
